Job Summary
Oak Run Elementary School District – Paraprofessional Summary The Paraprofessional supports classroom instruction, student learning, and school programs under the supervision of the Superintendent/Principal and assigned teachers. This 10-month, non-exempt position provides instructional assistance in general and special education, helps with the Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELOP), supervises recess and transitions, and assists with physical education. Key responsibilities include supporting small group and individual instruction, implementing teacher-directed strategies, supervising students to ensure safety and positive interactions, assisting with PE activities, and fostering student engagement, independence, and healthy habits. Paraprofessionals also maintain confidentiality, follow district policies, and communicate effectively with staff, students, and families. Qualifications: High school diploma (required), plus either two years of college, an Associate’s Degree, or a passing paraprofessional exam. Experience working with children, strong communication, organizational skills, and the ability to support diverse student needs are preferred. Work Environment: Duties occur in classrooms, playgrounds, and after-school settings, requiring active supervision and physical stamina.
