What are the responsibilities and job description for the Social Worker position at Oak Ridge Elementary School?
The Sandwich Public Schools has an immediate opening for a Social Worker at our Oak Ridge School, grades 3-6. The Social Worker shall perform the following duties (but not limited to):
Essential Responsibilities:
- Maintain a caseload of assigned students to support behavioral health wellness and academic success.
- Provide individual and group counseling to assigned student with measurable goals and progress monitoring.
- Provide SEL Instruction and direct counseling support to students
- Initiate and participate in all school meetings related to student progress.
- Facilitate meetings and have ongoing communication with families and outside community partners.
- Assist with the safety of students by facilitating risk assessments and providing crisis intervention and triage support.
- Assess student mental health needs, implement responsive plans and measure student growth.
- Appropriately assess and report for suspected abuse/neglect as a mandated reporter.
- Support school-wide SEL/MTSS initiatives to promote a positive school climate and a sense of belonging for all students.
- Build and maintain relationships with parents/families of students served, including phone calls, meetings, emails and when needed, home visits.
- Work collaboratively as an integral member of the School team by collaborating with administration, educators, members of the student services team, families and community partners.
- Provide referrals for outside services and connect families to community resources.
- Participate as a member of the Special Education team and provide counseling services to students on IEP's.
- Other duties as assigned by school administrators.
Qualifications:
- Must hold a valid license as a school social worker
- Have experience and passion for working with students
- Have the ability and initiative to work independently and collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team including school educators, specialists, administrators, family and community partners and possess strong counseling/clinical skills and a passion for continued learning and professional development.
FY26 pay range: $58,709 - $61,515 prorated for the remainder of the year.
