    About the Role:
    The Communications Coordinator plays a key role in supporting the District's communication strategy by helping ensure timely, clear, and accessible information for students, families, staff, and the broader community. This position contributes to the development and delivery of high-quality communications across digital platforms, supports storytelling efforts, and helps strengthen engagement with stakeholders.
    The Communications Coordinator will help ensure that equity remains at the center of the district's communications practices, in alignment with Board Policy 7:12: Ensuring Racial and Educational Equity, with a focus on access, inclusion, and impact on student learning and staff practices.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Website and Digital Presence
      • Manage the day-to-day maintenance of the district's family of websites, ensuring content is accurate, timely, and accessible
      • Provide training and ongoing support to school and department staff responsible for maintaining web content
    • Content Creation and Storytelling
      • Support the development, writing, and editing of content for websites, newsletters, social media, and other district publications
      • Create and curate content that highlights district initiatives, events, and accomplishments
    • Social Media and Engagement
      • Coordinate and manage district social media accounts, including Facebook and Instagram
      • Develop and publish multimedia content, including photography and video, to increase engagement and visibility
    • Analytics and Strategy
      • Monitor website and social media analytics and provide insights to improve reach, engagement, and effectiveness
      • Support the implementation of strategies to expand the district's digital presence
    • Design and Events
      • Design marketing and promotional materials aligned to district branding
      • Assist with the planning and coordination of events and engagement efforts
    • Alignment and Consistency
      • Ensure all communications align with the district's mission, vision, goals, and brand standards
    Other Duties
    • Support the Senior Director of Communications and Engagement in implementing communication strategies and responding to emerging needs
    • Keep leadership informed of relevant communication issues and seek guidance when appropriate
    • Participate in meetings, planning efforts, and continuous improvement processes
    • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all district policies and legal requirements
    • Perform additional duties and special projects in support of district priorities

    Content Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    • Advanced skills in website content management systems
    • Knowledge of both Mac and PC
    • Ability to manage multiple projects independently and work under tight deadlines
    • Ability to build consensus and work effectively within various schools and departments
    • Ability to take initiative and assume responsibility, ownership and accountability
    • Exemplary interpersonal communication skills
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
    • Ability to work under pressure in a team setting
    • Strong commitment to personal and professional growth and development

    Candidate Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree
    • Experience in social media management
    • Experience writing and editing
    • Experience working with diverse cultures and audiences
    • Minimum of three to five years of experience in communications, public relations, journalism, website design and management, or related field, preferred
    • Experience in graphic design, video production and editing, and photography, preferred

    Physical Requirements:
    This position requires the performance of light work—which requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to move objects. The position includes close visual acuity, frequent talking, hearing, walking, climbing stairs and standing, occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling, and significant fine finger dexterity. The job is performed in non-hazardous environments and a clean atmosphere. The position requires indoor and outdoor supervision during varying temperatures and climatic conditions.
