Job Description for Certified Nurse Aide
The Oak Manor Inc. is seeking a skilled and compassionate Certified Nurse Aide to join our team.
Qualifications:
- Completion of a training and competency evaluation program or a competency evaluation approved by the State, with a current certificate from the State.
- Enrollment in a competency training program approved by the State, performing services only for which competence has been demonstrated.
- A personality attuned to the needs of the infirm and aged.
- Demonstration of competency in skills and techniques necessary to care for resident's needs, as identified through Resident Assessment and described in the Plan of Care.
Responsibilities:
- Working under general direction and supervision of charge nurse.
- Handling and serving residents to assure safety and comfort.
- Observing instructions of nursing staff and performing according to established routine.
- Providing maximum resident care services to ensure well-being of resident to the greatest degree possible.
- Carrying out duties and responsibilities in conformance with established routine.
Work Performed:
Under supervision, perform duties to ensure maximum care, security, and treatment:
- Assist with carrying out the Resident Assessment and Plan of Care.
- Assure physical comfort and mental well-being of resident.
- Assist in customary daily requirements and tasks in care and treatment, such as bathing, feeding, dressing, observing intake of food, care of hair, nails, and moving residents from area to area, responding to calls, etc.
- Observe and report symptoms, reactions, and changes.
- Encourage and participate in rehabilitative measures.
Job Knowledge:
- Knowledge of procedures and techniques.
- Providing bedside services.
- Familiarity with functions of various departments.
- Understanding of standard techniques in personal service care of residents.
- Care of equipment and supplies.
- Awareness of sterile procedures and avoidance of contamination.
Special Demands:
- Work under close supervision with awareness that error may have serious consequences.
- Exercise patience and tact.
- Use of initiative and judgment.
- Warm, outgoing personality and positive response to residents who may be demanding.
