Position Summary
The Dining Services Assistant plays an important role in creating a welcoming and enjoyable dining experience for our residents. This position provides friendly, compassionate service while supporting daily dining operations, meal preparation, and cleanliness. The ideal candidate has a caring spirit, enjoys working with people, and takes pride in providing excellent service to our residents.
Essential Responsibilities
- Serve meals and beverages to residents in a friendly, respectful, and caring manner.
- Set and prepare dining tables before meals and ensure dining areas are welcoming and properly arranged.
- Interact with residents with patience and kindness.
- Prepare and serve beverages, including coffee, tea, water, and other drinks.
- Assist with basic food preparation and meal service as directed.
- Clear tables and assist with dining room clean-up following meals.
- Wash dishes, utensils, pots, and other kitchen and dining equipment.
- Maintain clean, sanitary, and organized dining and food preparation areas.
- Follow proper food safety, sanitation, and infection-control procedures.
- Work cooperatively with other Dining Services team members to ensure meals are served efficiently and residents' needs are met.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the dining services operation.
Qualifications
- Previous food service, hospitality, or assisted living experience is helpful but not required.
- A positive attitude and willingness to serve others.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Dependable, responsible, and attentive to cleanliness and food safety.
- Ability to demonstrate compassion, patience, and respect when working with residents.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform the physical requirements of the position.
