Gilead Community Services is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Medical Billing Specialist to join our Finance Department team. This full-time position plays a vital role in supporting our Outpatient Mental Health Clinics by ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant billing processes.
About the position:
This is a full-time, 40-hour per week position, Monday through Friday. The standard schedule is 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM; however, after successful completion of training, flexibility in start and end times within the workweek may be available based on departmental needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process medical claims and verify insurance benefits
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date insurance information in the billing management system
- Generate, review, and submit electronic and paper claims to insurance companies
- Review Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) for denials and resubmit claims as necessary
- Monitor and follow up on outstanding balances to ensure timely collection
- Assist clinicians in securing required prior authorizations
- Collaborate with billing and program teams to promote efficient and effective billing processes
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma required
- Medical Billing Certification required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and medical billing software
- Medical billing experience preferred; however, we are willing to train the right candidate who demonstrates strong aptitude and commitment
- Valid driver’s license and automobile insurance in good standing (documentation required)
