Reporting to the Vice President of Operations, the plant manager oversees daily operations of a manufacturing facility to ensure safety, employee well-being, quality, production and cost-efficiency goals are met. Key responsibilities include developing production schedules, developing and managing staff, implementing safety protocols, optimizing processes, controlling costs, and maintaining equipment. Plant managers act as the link between plant operations, human resources and senior management, requiring strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills to lead their facility effectively.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure employee well-being and safety standards are enforced.
- Oversee daily operations ensuring throughput and quality standards are met.
- Ensure adherence to plant budgets are met.
- Recruit and train new employees as required.
- Ensure housekeeping standards are maintained.
- Control overtime for hourly employees.
- Effectively communicate with senior leadership.
- Limit downtime and champion continuous improvement efforts.
- Champion preventative maintenance and asset reliability.
- Maintains required reports and reporting from senior leadership.
- Communication with human resources as required.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state and federal safety and environmental standards.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with leadership on strategic planning and resource needs.
- Ensure inventory accuracy with in-plant inventory.
- Ensure products are made to corporate quality standards.
- Hiring, disciplining and terminating employees with coordination of Human Resources.
- All other tasks as assigned by supervisor.
Job Requirements
- Exceptional communication skills.
- Experience with Microsoft products.
- 7 years management experience preferred.
- Experience with 5S, TQM
- Bachelor’s degree in business preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to develop teams.
