Oak Grove School, a small pre-K through 12th-grade progressive college preparatory school in Ojai, California, is seeking an experienced and accomplished Middle School Science Teacher. This position is a long-term substitute position from January 7th to June 12th, with the potential to stay on.

Responsibilities and Duties
- Teaching 6th Grade Earth Science and 7th/8th Grade Life Science.
- Serving as advisor to the 7th-grade class.
- Support the MS Service Learning Program, which partners with local farms.
- Proctoring an after-school study hall two days a week, focusing on executive skills development.
- Attending regular staff meetings, professional development in-services, training, and special events.
- Supporting students with conflict resolution and social-emotional growth and development.
- Supervising interstitial spaces during breaks and lunch times.
- Participating in school events and our outdoor education program, including a multi-day outdoor education trip in the spring.
- Other teaching responsibilities.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
- Desire to work with and knowledge of working with MS-aged students and their unique social and emotional developmental stage
- Active enjoyment of the outdoors, the ability to plan and teach outdoors
- Familiarity with growth mindset, project-based learning, anti-bias education, and authentic assessment.
- Expertise in child development and social-emotional learning.
- Experience teaching executive skills and study strategies.
- Applicants must show an ability to collaborate effectively with diverse groups, including students, parents, and faculty.
- Proficiency with GSuite and online Learning Management Systems.
- Ability to supervise and support students when using technology.
- Self-motivated, self-disciplined, professional, creative, and energetic.
- Ability to understand and follow safety procedures.
- Ability to provide a supportive and caring environment for children.
- Highly organized and able to follow and improvise with existing curricula.

Qualifications
- BA and/or MA degree (Science Preferred)
- 3 years of teaching experience at the secondary level preferred
- Multi-subject and/or single-subject credential preferred
