What are the responsibilities and job description for the School Secretary - Biliterate - Stipe Elementary (English/Spanish) position at Oak Grove School District?
To coordinate and perform responsible clerical and secretarial duties at a school site relieving principal and staff of routine administrative and office management duties. To provide specialized Biliterate support functions between a specified non-English speaking segment of the community and the school by interpreting and translating English/Spanish or English and another language as specified by the District. Employees in this classification receive limited supervision from a school administrator within a framework of policies and procedures. Employees in this classification may oversee and coordinate the work of others. This job class exercises initiative and independent judgement in chossing among alternative courses of action to solve routine procedural problems and is responsible for providing accurate interpretive and translation services to ensure adequate communication is available between the school and the community it serves. Oak Grove School District has a total student enrollment of approximately 8,690 from grades TK-8. There are 15 elementary schools and 3 intermediate schools. Six out of seventeen schools receive Title I funds. Schools range from the highest student enrollment (730) to the lowest student enrollment (269). The percentage of English Learners is 29% representing 56 languages spoken in the district.
