Responsibilities
- Safely inspect, repair, and maintain all types of mechanical equipment and facilities including draglines, coal crushers, coal conveyors, dozers, motor graders, haul trucks, end dumps, backhoes, water trucks, front end loaders, vehicles and shop equipment.
- Perform painting / carpentry / construction work; operate large motorized equipment, mobile cranes, forklifts and trucks.
- Requires ability to recognize inefficiencies / waste in mine operation and problem solving skills to eliminate it.
- All other duties as assigned
This position is a 12-hour shift position and represented by IBEW 2337. Hourly rate $39.97.
Requirements
- Education required: High School Diploma, or GED equivalent
- Position requires 5 years of heavy equipment mechanical experience (diesel engines, hydraulic systems, conveyor maintenance, welding / fitting, rigging/lifting).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of basic math, reading, and writing skills required.
- Computer experience preferred
- Previous MSHA experience preferred
- Work is of a physical nature and performed in and outdoor environment in all weather conditions.
- May be required to work a rotating shift of up to 12 hours.
- Proficiency in the use of Caterpillar Electronic Technician and Caterpillar Service Information System desired. Applicant also needs proficient skills in trouble shooting and component change outs on modern Caterpillar equipment.
