Position Overview
Oak Electric is seeking a skilled and versatile HVAC Installer / Service Technician to join our team in Waterford. This dual role is designed for a professional technician who takes pride in high-quality workmanship and superior customer service. You will move beyond basic assistance to take full ownership of end-to-end system installations, complex diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance for both residential and commercial clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Full-Cycle Installations: Lead the installation of residential and commercial HVAC systems, including furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, ductwork, and commercial rooftop units (RTUs), ensuring a clean and professional finish.
- Independent Diagnostics & Repair: Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair a wide range of HVAC/R equipment. Perform expert component replacements (compressors, motors, boards), refrigerant recovery, and electrical troubleshooting.
- System Start-Ups & Testing: Conduct thorough post-installation testing, including checking airflow, static pressure, and gas pressure to ensure optimal system performance and efficiency.
- Preventative Maintenance: Perform detailed system "tune-ups" and safety inspections to maximize equipment longevity and efficiency for our customers.
- Technical Compliance: Ensure all installations, retrofits, and repairs adhere strictly to local building codes, manufacturer specifications, and industry safety standards.
- Customer Advisor: Clearly communicate technical issues, installation layouts, and diagnostic findings to customers, providing honest recommendations, upfront pricing, and professional solutions.
- Logistics & Documentation: Maintain accurate digital service and installation records, manage truck inventory, and ensure all tools and equipment are in peak working condition.
Requirements
- 5 years of experience in HVAC service, repair, and installation.
- EPA 608 Universal Certification Required.
- Strong understanding of refrigeration cycles, airflow, duct design, and electrical schematics.
- Proficiency with installation hand tools, brazing/soldering equipment, and diagnostic meters.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and work comfortably in tight spaces (crawl spaces, attics) or at heights (rooftops).
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Journeyman license or technical school degree is a plus.
Pay: $28.00 - $38.00 per hour
