Through our U.S. Department of Labor-certified, State of Michigan electrical apprenticeship training program, you will receive extensive company-sponsored, on-the-job training. With your commitment and continued development, this role is a direct pathway toward becoming a licensed Journeyman Electrician.
Core Responsibilities
As a Field Technician in our Generator Service Division, you will perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on permanently installed standby generators and automatic transfer switches.
- Preventive Maintenance: Perform scheduled maintenance on outdoor standby generators (fluid/filter changes, spark plug replacement, valve lash adjustments, battery testing, and software updates).
- Technical Troubleshooting: Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using alarm/code flow charts, voltage/frequency measurements, and continuity checks.
- Customer Interaction: Meet directly with homeowners and business owners to explain service diagnostics and how their backup systems will be maintained.
- Service Technology: Document your work, diagnostics, parts used, and test results using the ServiceTitan mobile platform.
- Cross-Training: Gain exposure and cross-train into basic HVAC service, generator installation, and our renewable energy/solar division.
Qualifications & Requirements
We are looking for a dependable, motivated individual with a solid foundation in hands-on mechanical or electrical work.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in mechanical, small engine, automotive, generator, or electrical repair/service.
- License: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Physical Demands: Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Working Conditions: Willingness to work outdoors year-round in all Michigan weather conditions.
- Background: Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
