Essential Functions for the Position:
Safely operate all assigned vehicles on public roadway system to effectively deliver ADA eligible customers on a schedule. Able to positively influence customers and provide excellent curb to curb service with aloha. Work independently with integrity, without direct supervision, and take direction in a positive manner. Analyze work shift, manifest, and customer information to determine most effective type vehicle and routing to use. Coordinate and document customer delivery, transfers, no shows, cancels, and delays. Provide timely and accurate reports on accidents and incidents. Maintain logs, reports, and information affecting fare collection, vehicle condition, and scheduled service. Do medium level of physical work involved in loading and unloading passengers, wheelchairs, baggage, and packages.
Special Knowledge & Skills:
1. Excellent ability to reason and maintain emotional control, use good judgment, and positive attitude.
2. Strong geographic knowledge of Oahu, map reading, and error free data recording and math skills.
3. Communicates courteously and professionally with operators, dispatchers, and customers.
Education, Training & Experience:
1. Communicates clearly in simple English, using detailed instructions in oral and written formats.
2. Basic math to calculate time, distance, and money.
3. Must be high school graduate.
Other Job Requirement & Conditions:
1. Must be able to safely operate all vehicles provided for revenue service and provide the required assistance to passengers specified by the ADA regulations without posing a direct threat to the health or safety of others which cannot be eliminated by reasonable accommodation.
2. Must be able to professionally operate various type passenger carrying vehicles in compliance with federal, state, county, and Company requirements.
3. Must have a valid Type 3 Hawaii State driver's license with clean traffic abstract (a current traffic abstract must be presented at time of interview). **Effective 6/16/17, a Commercial Driver's License is not required.**
4. Must be able to pass Company sponsored medical examination and drug screen to meet Company and DOT Medical requirements.
5. Understand and apply defensive driving and injury prevention techniques.
6. Use two way radio or mobile data terminal communications system.
7. Use telephone, fire extinguisher, bio hazard protective and general cleaning equipment, and fuel vehicle.
8. Properly operate wheelchair lift and securement belts.
