Position: Barista

Our Mission

O.W.L (One World Linked) believes coffee has the power to bring people together. We started as a specialty coffee roastery and recently opened our café inside Mike's Bikes in Boulder. Our goal is to serve great coffee while creating a welcoming space where people connect, build relationships, and become part of a growing community.

We're looking for someone who wants to be part of building something from the ground up.

Position Summary

The Barista is responsible for preparing quality coffee beverages, creating a welcoming customer experience, maintaining a clean and organized café, and helping bring the O.W.L mission to life each day. Success in this role is measured not only by great coffee, but by creating an environment where customers feel known, welcomed, and excited to return. Customer service and experience is really important to us! Need to be a people person :) And---you don't need to ride or like bikes, BUT it's a bonus if you do!!! OR if you love, love, love unique, specialty coffee (most important) you are our people!

Responsibilities

• Prepare espresso beverages, brewed coffee, pour-overs, tea, and other café beverages according to O.W.L standards.
• Assemble and serve café food offerings while following all food safety and sanitation procedures.
• Operate the point-of-sale system and accurately process customer transactions.
• Greet every customer with warmth and professionalism.
• Learn our coffees, products, and menu offerings to confidently answer customer questions.
• Help maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked café throughout each shift.
• Complete opening and closing checklists.
• Monitor inventory and communicate supply needs.
• Operate independently during scheduled shifts while maintaining a positive customer experience.
• Support roasting, packaging, or other café operations as needed.
• Represent O.W.L. at community events including group rides, runs, fundraisers, tastings, and special events that may occur outside normal café hours.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous barista experience is a plus but not required.
• Customer service or hospitality experience.
• Food handler certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Ability to work mornings, afternoons, weekends, and occasional evening community events.

Compensation

• Hourly wage plus tips (based on experience).
• Position will begin as an independent contractor during an initial onboarding and training period, with the opportunity to transition to employee status based on mutual fit and business needs.
