Essential Responsibilities
Leads, trains, and mentors food preparation staff including recruitment, hiring, coaching, development, evaluations, and progressive discipline.
Collaborates on the creation, management, and operation within departmental budgets and expense plans to maximize revenue and profits.
Schedules all team members under supervision, maintaining adequate staffing levels while adhering to labor standards.
Supervises all cooking operations, including methods, portioning, and garnishing.
Plans meals and develops menus when needed.
Manages safe alcohol serving certifications and upholds all guidelines.
Oversees and maintains appropriate product inventory levels.
Schedules equipment maintenance and cleaning.
Adheres to company standards and service levels to increase sales and minimize costs (food, beverage, supply, utilities, and labor).
Assists the management team with shift management functions in both front and back of house.
Ensures 100% recipe adherence and plating specifications.
Maintains health and sanitation standards while keeping a clean and safe working environment.
Prepares food products using standardized techniques.
Visibly recognizes food quality and proper cooking temperatures.
Supports team member recognition and engagement programs.
Reports to work for scheduled shifts, on time and in uniform, per company policy.
Knows and complies with all company policies and procedures.
Embraces O’Reach, Green Team, Guest Service, Team Member Satisfaction, Health & Wellness, and Safety culture.
Performs other duties as required or requested.
Skills & Abilities
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
Knowledgeable in restaurant functions: food planning/preparation, purchasing, sanitation, security, policies/procedures, personnel management, recordkeeping, and reporting.
Professional, pleasant, and maintains a neat and clean appearance.
Ability to motivate team members and ensure food/service standards are met.
Able to coordinate multiple activities under pressure and recommend solutions to restaurant problems.
Strong leadership, management, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to spot and resolve problems efficiently.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to deliver results and maintain tact and diplomacy across diverse personality types.
Strong multitasking and prioritization skills.
Models behaviors that motivate, lead, and develop the BOH team.
Maintains a positive reputation in the community.
Hours
Scheduling may vary and include nights, weekends, and holidays.
Education & Experience
Associate degree in Culinary Arts preferred.
2–3 years of kitchen operations experience in a high-volume, full-service restaurant/bar environment, or equivalent education and experience.
Physical Requirements of the Position
Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds (e.g., bulk produce).
Able to bend, reach, and lift items of at least 40 pounds overhead for storage.
Able to transport food and utensils weighing up to 10 pounds.
May occasionally be required to lift more than 40 pounds.
Physical Activity of the Position
Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, pinching, typing, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, repetitive motion.
Environmental Conditions
Inside environment: protected from weather but not necessarily from temperature fluctuations.
