Employment Type: Full-time
Hours of Operation: Monday – Friday 8am – 6 pm, Saturday 9am – 1pm, On-call rotation
Job Summary
Pharmacists are responsible for the daily operation of the pharmacy and encompasses the job description of every job below them in the pharmacy structure. Additionally, pharmacists supervise all technicians and support staff and assuring medications are delivered to the patient in a safe, accurate and timely fashion.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately review, verify, and dispense prescription medications
- Provide patient counseling on medication usage, side effects, and interactions
- Maintain complete and accurate patient profiles in pharmacy systems
- Review prescriptions for clinical appropriateness and safety
- Oversee pharmacy technicians and support staff, including workflow delegation and accuracy checks
- Resolve insurance processing issues and communicate with medical professionals
- Monitor inventory, order medications, manage controlled substances, and ensure proper medication storage and handling
- Maintain compliance with state/federal pharmacy laws and company policies
- Ensure patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance
- Participate in the clinical services program including administering immunizations
- Promote health and wellness services and provide medication therapy support
- Participate in rotating on-call schedule for after-hours consultation, emergency dispensing, or store support needs
- Must be available during scheduled on-call hours for phone consultations or urgent pharmacy needs including delivery of medication to patients
Qualifications
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor’s in Pharmacy
- Active state pharmacist license in good standing
- Immunization certification
- Strong clinical judgment and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to manage a fast-paced retail environment
- Prior retail pharmacy experience preferred
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, bend and twist for extended periods (minimum 4 hours)
- Able to lift a minimum of 20 lbs and up to 50 lbs as needed
- Ability to work on a screen for entire shift as frequent computer work and data entry required
