As a Surface Coal Mine Laborer, you'll perform essential maintenance and labor tasks to keep surface structures, conveyor beltlines, and related equipment safe and operational. This hands-on role involves general repairs, housekeeping, and supporting daily mine activities in an outdoor environment. On-the-job training is provided for qualified candidates, with specialized skills (like prior belt work) opening doors to higher-responsibility positions.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and repair surface structures, conveyor beltlines.
- Complete all assigned tasks in a timely and efficient manner while prioritizing safety
- Follow all health, safety, and environmental regulations in accordance with Company policy, State, and Federal laws
- Perform housekeeping duties, including cleaning spillage, maintaining walkways, changing rollers, and general site upkeep
- Demonstrate dependability by consistently arriving at work on time, ready to work 40 hours per week on multiple shifts.
- Lift, carry, and handle materials/equipment (up to 50 lbs regularly; 40 lbs in various positions, including up/down stairs)
- Work effectively with exposure to extreme weather conditions.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- MSHA Surface Training
- Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation to/from remote mine sites
- Must successfully pass drug and alcohol screening, background check
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic
- Physical capability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs, and work in demanding outdoor conditions
- High school diploma or GED preferred
