Duties

  • Offer peer support by sharing personal recovery stories to inspire hope and resilience
  • Assist individuals in developing coping skills through motivational interviewing and mentoring techniques
  • Respond effectively to crisis situations using crisis intervention and crisis management skills
  • Collaborate with mental health professionals to coordinate care plans within electronic health record (EHR) systems
  • Provide addiction counseling support and behavioral health education tailored to individual needs
  • Support clients in navigating social services, community resources, and treatment options
  • Document interactions accurately within EHR systems, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with privacy standards

Requirements

  • Proven lived experience with mental health recovery or substance use recovery, serving as a peer supporter
  • Certification as a Peer Support Specialist from an approved program or agency
  • Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques and crisis management strategies
  • Strong understanding of behavioral health, mental health counseling, and addiction counseling principles
  • Excellent mentoring, motivational interviewing, and active listening skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams using EHR systems effectively
  • Flexibility to respond to urgent situations with professionalism and compassion
