Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Per Diem Pharmacy Intern - Manhattan, Cancer Center.

Responsible for acting as an assistant to a Licensed Pharmacist under direct supervision by filling medication cassettes, automated dispensing machines, compounding sterile and non-sterile products, doing shelf checks and performing general organization of the pharmacy. In addition, the intern may be called upon to assist in quality assurance/performance improvement projects and patient specific data collection.

Job Responsibilities:

• Demonstrates proficiency with unit dose drug distribution
• Performs other duties as assigned
• Demonstrates knowledge of state and federal laws related to the handling of controlled substances
• Completes annual competency assessments
• Answer telephone with courtesy and promptness
• Demonstrates proficiency with the automated dispensing machines
• Demonstrates proficiency in patient specific data collection and review of medical records
• Assists pharmacists with nursing station reviews, QA/PI projects when needed
• Assist with security
• Demonstrates proficiency with medication procurement, stocking and deliveries
• Demonstrates proficiency with hospital information system
• Demonstrates proficiency in extemporaneous compounding on non-sterile products including capsule, ointments, oral/topical solutions and other kits
• Demonstrates proficiency in Aseptic technique IV room procedures and USP standard
• Demonstrates proficiency when repacking needed doses

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a High School diploma or the equivalent. Excellent communication skills. Enrollment or graduate of ACPE accredited college of Pharmacy or equivalent, pharmacy intern permit.. 

Required Licenses: Pharmacy Intern Permit-NYS

Preferred Qualifications:
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Powerpoint and Excel

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $38.25 - $38.25 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
