The Research and Development (R&D) Manager leads the development of innovative new products and improvements to existing product lines from concept through launch. This role provides technical and project leadership to the engineering team while coordinating efforts across product management, manufacturing, supply chain, sales and external partners. The R&D Manager ensures that all designs meet performance, quality, and manufacturability standards while aligning with company goals and customer needs. - Lead design efforts for new products as well as enhancements or expansions of existing product lines.
- Manage and direct all phases of product development projects from concept through release.
- Serve as project manager and lead cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with business and technical objectives.
- Provide technical leadership and work direction to engineers and designers.
- Develop and implement test plans to meet safety, compliance and reliability standards and codes.
- Collaborate with manufacturing to ensure design for manufacturability while driving cost and efficiency improvements to ensure a successful product launch.
- Partner with product management to verify that customer and market requirements are accurately reflected in final designs.
- Facilitate project team meetings, maintain project schedules, assign action items, document project progress and deliver project updates and presentations to senior management and other key stakeholders.
- Foster a culture of teamwork, continuous improvement, and accountability within the R&D group.
· Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
· 7 years experience as Mechanical Design Engineer working in a new product development environment
· Experience leading new product development initiatives through the phase gate process
· Knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, and design for manufacturability principles
· Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, set priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
· Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional teams
· Excellent leadership, communication and team collaboration skills
· Proficiency with SolidWorks and Simulation FEA tool
Pay: $115,001.02 - $132,000.00 per year
