BASE SALARY: $61,424 $4,920 LOCATION PAY


CLASSIFICATION: EXEMPT/CONFIDENTIAL

QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or the equivalent and two (2) years of legal secretarial experience; or An equivalent

combination of education and experience.

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF WORK: Secretaries to Judges provide personal and confidential legal secretarial services and
perform other related duties for judges who serve in the Supreme Court, Court of Claims, City, Family, County, Surrogate's and
District Courts. Secretaries to Judge may also perform clerical and reporting duties in a courtroom or court office. In courts where
the Secretary to Judge provides personal and confidential legal secretarial services for more than one judge, the appointing
authority is the Chief Administrative Judge.

ASSIGNMENT: The Hon. Jordan S. Katz is hiring for a Secretary in the Court of Claims. Court of Claims judges preside over civil
claims against New York State, including, without limitation, wrongful death, personal injury, medical malpractice, labor law,
property, and unjust convictions claims. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: creating, maintaining, and updating
case files (paper and electronic), as well as motion and trial files and records; scheduling and assisting with conferences, trials,
and other proceedings; creating virtual hearing rooms for management of parties' trial exhibits, as well as assembling decisions for
filing and publication; assisting with Judge's calendar; logging in mail and preparing correspondence; communicating via phone
and email with attorneys, unrepresented litigants, and court personnel; and other related administrative duties, such as ordering
supplies, making travel arrangements and preparing expense vouchers. Attention to detail, strong organizational, interpersonal,
and communication skills, and the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously required. Professionalism and ability
to handle sensitive matters in a confidential manner are also essential.
