Duties Description
Under the direction of the Information Technology Specialist 4, SG-25, within the Chief Technology Office, Enterprise Network Services, Support and Operations, Network Monitoring, Tools, and Network Telemetry group. the Information Technology Specialist 2, SG-18, will perform specific duties that may include but are not limited to the following:
Minimum Qualifications
Open Competitive: A bachelor's or higher-level degree including or supplemented by 15 semester credit hours in computer science.
OR
A bachelor's or higher-level degree in any field and one year of experience in information technology;
OR
60 semester credit hours including or supplemented by 15semester credit hours in computer science and one year of professional experience in information technology.
OR
Two years of professional experience in information technology.
Promotion: Open to NYS employees with one year of permanent competitive service as an Information Technology Specialist 1,Salary Grade (SG) 14.
Transfer: Open to NYS employees with one year of permanent competitive service as an Information Technology Specialist 2 or Information Technology Specialist 2 Programming, SG-18; OR in a title SG-16 or above deemed administrative under Section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law.
55b/c Appointment: This position is eligible for 55b/c designation and candidates are encouraged to apply.

Duties Description
Under the direction of the Information Technology Specialist 4, SG-25, within the Chief Technology Office, Enterprise Network Services, Support and Operations, Network Monitoring, Tools, and Network Telemetry group. the Information Technology Specialist 2, SG-18, will perform specific duties that may include but are not limited to the following:
- Process requests and investigate incidents relating to our applications, servers, and authentication
- Identify and troubleshoot problems, and implement necessary solutions
- Manage various monitoring applications and the servers they run on
- Stand up new monitoring applications and servers as required
- Manage Tacacs/Radius environments for wireless authentications, network device management, and Network Access Control
- Perform after-hours changes to patch, update, or perform impacting work against production servers, and applications
- Create and maintain scripts as needed, primarily in Python
- Follow Enterprise Standards, and document processes as you go
- Report directing ENS support team
- Maintain Certificate renewals for all our tools yearly/biyearly as needed
- Understand and manage Network Access Control systems
- Provide reporting and monitoring to Direct Support teams
