New York Embroidery Studio is a high-end embellishment and production studio working with leading fashion brands, designers, and special projects across runway, retail, and events.
We are seeking an Embroidery Production Assistant to support our embroidery manager and production team. This is a unique hybrid role combining computer-based work with hands-on machine operation, ideal for someone early in their career with a background in fashion or textile design who wants to gain real production experience.
Key Responsibilities
Embroidery Production
- Assist with operating embroidery machines (setup, hooping, running jobs)
- Monitor stitch quality and flag issues during production
- Support smooth workflow across multiple active jobs
Thread & Color Matching
- Match thread colors using Pantone references
- Pull and organize threads for production
- Maintain thread inventory and organization
File & Sampling Support
- Assist with preparing and reviewing embroidery files
- Support sampling and test runs for new developments
- Help identify issues with stitch density, scale, and clarity
General Production Support
- Prepare garments and materials for embroidery
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace
- Assist the team during high-volume production periods
Requirements
- Bilingual: English and Spanish (required)
- Degree in Fashion Design, Textile Design, or related field
- Strong interest in embroidery and textile production
- Comfortable working both on a computer and on the production floor
- Computer proficiency (Adobe Illustrator preferred)
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Clear and proactive communicator across teams
- Strong visual judgment and good taste in color, proportion, and placement
- Ability to work quickly and stay organized under pressure
Compensation & Details
- Full-time, on-site (Garment District)
- Pay range: $20 - $27 / hour, based on experience and skill set
- Hands-on training in embroidery production and development
