Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive respiratory assessments to determine patient needs and develop individualized treatment plans.
- Administer respiratory therapies such as oxygen delivery, ventilator management, aerosol treatments, and airway clearance techniques.
- Operate and troubleshoot advanced medical equipment including ventilators, nebulizers, and oxygen systems to ensure optimal functioning.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care for patients with complex respiratory conditions across inpatient, outpatient, and sub-acute settings.
- Educate patients and their families on respiratory health management, including medication use and breathing exercises.
- Maintain accurate documentation of treatments, patient progress, and clinical observations in compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Stay current with evolving practices in respiratory therapy, including new technologies and evidence-based interventions.
Skills
- Practicing in a physical therapy role with a strong understanding of physiology and anatomy related to respiratory function.
- Knowledge of medical terminology relevant to respiratory care and general hospital medicine.
- Experience operating medical equipment such as ventilators, oxygen delivery systems, and airway management tools.
- Familiarity with orthopedics, orthotics interventions in occupational therapy, dance therapy, geriatrics, and post-acute care environments is advantageous.
- Proven inpatient experience with outpatient clinic exposure enhances your ability to adapt across diverse healthcare settings.
- Strong understanding of anatomy knowledge related to the respiratory system combined with skills in hand therapy occupational practice when applicable.
- Experience in geriatrics or sub-acute care environments that require specialized respiratory interventions.
