Our client, a respected precision machining manufacturer, is seeking a Senior Buyer to play a critical role in ensuring materials, services, and supplies are available when needed, at the best possible value.
This is an established hands-on position with a company that is rapidly growing and expanding so there will be opportunity to lead the purchasing department soon!
What You'll Do
As the Senior Buyer, you'll lead purchasing activities across the organization while serving as a key business partner to operations, production, and leadership teams. Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing and strengthening supplier relationships while identifying and onboarding new vendors
- Negotiating pricing, terms, and agreements to optimize total cost, quality, and delivery performance
- Analyzing supplier performance metrics and driving continuous improvement initiatives
- Assessing the impact of supplier pricing changes and market conditions on product margins
- Managing purchasing risk related to supply disruptions, cost volatility, and vendor performance
- Overseeing the requisition-to-purchase order process and ensuring timely procurement of goods and services
- Collaborating cross-functionally to forecast demand, maintain inventory levels, and prevent shortages
- Issuing supplier forecasts and blanket purchase orders to maximize purchasing leverage
- Monitoring open orders, expediting deliveries, and resolving discrepancies related to invoices and shipments
- Supporting operational accuracy through proactive communication and ERP transaction management
What We're Looking for in a Senior Buyer
Required Qualifications
- 5 years of purchasing or procurement experience within a manufacturing company where you have demonstrated results and measurable improvements
- Strong negotiation, supplier management, and analytical skills
- Ability to make sound decisions in ambiguous or fast-changing situations
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
Preferred Qualifications of a Senior Buyer
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a related field
- ASCM certification or equivalent professional credential
- Experience with JobBoss ERP software
