Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated lead instructor to co-found a new self defense studio in Brooklyn, NY. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience as a self-defense or martial arts instructor including curriculum development. The studio is focused on non-MMA clientele including both teens and adults, so a focus on creating a positive, welcoming environment is key.
Note this is a brand new studio, and so the instructor will have the opportunity to shape the program to their vision.
Note that this role is posted as a part-time/contract role as it envisioned that the studio will, at least initially, only offer classes a few times a day.
Responsibilities
- Develop a self-defense curriculum
- Deliver lesson plans that engage, excite, and empower students
- Create a positive atmosphere for students
- Identify opportunities for the growth of the studio
- Assist in the hiring of additional instructors as needed
Qualifications
- Previous self-defense, krav maga, boxing, kickboxing, muay thai, or other martial arts instructor experience
- Strong verbal communication skills and ability to inspire and connect
- Ability to create an inclusive studio environment that respects diverse backgrounds
