Sign Drafter/CAD Designer

NY Sign Art is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Sign Drafter / CAD Designer to prepare technical drawings and shop drawings for custom architectural signage projects. The ideal candidate will work closely with project managers, designers, fabricators, and installation teams to develop accurate drawings that meet project specifications, building requirements, and installation needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed CAD drawings, shop drawings, elevations, sections, and installation details for architectural signage projects.
• Develop drawings for interior and exterior signs, building identification signs, dimensional lettering, illuminated signs, and custom signage systems.
• Interpret architectural plans, elevations, site surveys, design concepts, and project specifications.
• Incorporate field measurements and site conditions into accurate technical drawings.
• Produce fabrication drawings with dimensions, materials, mounting methods, hardware details, and electrical requirements where applicable.
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, fabricators, and installers to ensure drawings are practical and buildable.
• Revise drawings based on client comments, engineering feedback, field conditions, and permit requirements.
• Assist with preparing drawings for client approval, permitting, fabrication, and installation.
• Maintain organized project files, drawing revisions, and documentation.
• Ensure drawings comply with applicable project specifications, building codes, and signage regulations.

Qualifications

• Experience with AutoCAD or comparable CAD drafting software.
• Experience with Adobe Illustrator, CorelDRAW, or other design software.
• 5 years of experience in architectural signage, sign fabrication, construction, or a related industry.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, construction documents, and technical specifications.
• Strong understanding of dimensions, scale, elevations, and construction detailing.
• Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time management.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
• Understanding of fabrication processes and materials, including aluminum, steel, acrylic, and LED components.
• Experience preparing shop drawings and fabrication details.
