Position Summary, Photonics Integration Engineer
The Process Integration Engineer position will work on our Silicon Photonics technology platforms.
This position will be focused primarily on the execution of AIM's multi-project wafer (MPW) program (https://www.aimphotonics.com/mpw) with some opportunity to participate in various sponsored projects.
The candidate will also be expected to participate in sustaining and continuous improvement activities to maximize manufacturability while ensuring stable and repeatable performance of our offerings.

Key Responsibilities
- Providing integration support for the core AIM Photonics MPW program
- Handling and managing third-party design IP
- Performing design rule checking (DRC) and waiver reviews
- Collecting and analyzing measurement, metrology, and inline test data
- Preparing and submitting process/measurement change requests and Change Review Board (CRB) documentation
- Interfacing customers and development partners to understand project requirements and provide updates on progress, risks, and challenges
- Contributing to sustaining and continuous improvement activities to maximize manufacturability while ensuring stable and repeatable performance
- Actively participating in team meetings and technical discussions
- Collaborating effectively with cross-functional team members
- Coordinating with external vendors, including mask houses, dicing/packaging providers, and outsourced process partners
- Authoring technical reports, publications, and/or patent documentation as appropriate
- Performing other duties as reasonably assigned
Minimum Qualifications, Photonics Integration Engineer
- M.S. degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent Engineering and/or Science discipline from a college or University accredited by the USDOE or internationally recognized accrediting organization AND 5 years relevant professional industry experience OR Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent Engineering and/or Science discipline from a college or University accredited by the USDOE Internationally recognized accrediting organization AND 3 years relevant professional industry experience
- The successful candidate must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication, as well as strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- Proven ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks on short notice
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a cross-functional team environment; must be adaptable and capable of quickly learning new concepts as organizational needs evolve
Preferred Qualifications, Photonics Integration Engineer
Experience in one or more of the following topics is highly desired:
- Process development experience in multiple sectors (LTH, RIE, INS, MTL, CMP, PLT, WET, RTP, ION, EPI)
- CMOS Process Integration experience; sustaining and/or developing processes in a 300mm wafer fabrication facility
- Process Integration experience non-CMOS technologies (MEMS, sensors, magnetics, photonics, etc)
- Materials characterization and metrology: SEM, AFM, profilometry, white light interferometry, XRD, SIMS etc.
- Experience with 2.5D/3D integration and/or heterogeneous integration
- Background in modeling or device physics of photonic devices, specifically silicon or III-V photonics
- Familiarity with IC layout and verification tools (KLayout, Cadence, Mentor Graphics, Synopsys)
- Demonstrated hands-on problem solver
