Campus Security Officer

NxtGen Security is hiring a dependable, professional, and well-presented Unarmed Security Officer for a full-time campus security assignment in Cambridge, MA.

Starting pay is $23.00 per hour.

This is an unarmed, client-facing campus security position focused on maintaining a visible security presence, conducting scheduled patrols, monitoring access points, checking buildings and exterior areas, documenting activity, responding appropriately to alarms or security concerns, and helping maintain a safe, secure, and orderly environment.

This position is a strong fit for an officer who is reliable, observant, comfortable working independently, and able to remain alert and professional during overnight and weekend shifts.

Specific client site details will be discussed with qualified candidates who move forward in the hiring process.

Schedule

This is a full-time fixed schedule of approximately 40 hours per week:

Wednesday: 10:30 PM to 6:30 AM
Friday: 10:30 PM to 6:30 AM
Saturday: 6:30 PM to 6:30 AM
Sunday: 6:30 PM to 6:30 AM

Additional hours at other NxtGen Security client sites may also become available for reliable officers who perform well once on board.

Position Responsibilities

Responsibilities may include:

• Maintaining a professional, visible, and attentive security presence
• Conducting scheduled patrols of assigned campus areas
• Checking buildings, doors, access points, exterior areas, and parking areas
• Monitoring for unauthorized access, suspicious activity, safety concerns, disturbances, property damage, or unusual conditions
• Responding appropriately to alarms, security concerns, and incidents in accordance with established procedures
• Operating a company patrol vehicle when assigned
• Communicating professionally with NxtGen Security management and approved client contacts
• Documenting patrol activity, observations, incidents, and notable conditions
• Completing accurate and professional digital shift reports
• Following company policies, post orders, client procedures, and supervisor instructions

This is an unarmed position. Officers are expected to use professionalism, observation, communication, documentation, and proper escalation when handling concerns.

Officers must remain awake, alert, and attentive throughout the full shift. Sleeping on post is not permitted.

Uniform and Appearance

This assignment requires a clean, professional security appearance.

NxtGen Security will provide required company uniform items and standard equipment. Officers are responsible for professional pants and appropriate footwear unless otherwise directed.

A neat, clean, and professional appearance is required for every shift.

Requirements

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Must be available for the full fixed schedule listed above
• Must have a valid driver’s license
• Must be reliable, punctual, professional, and detail-oriented
• Must have strong communication skills
• Must have reliable transportation to Cambridge, MA
• Must be comfortable working overnight and weekend shifts
• Must be able to work independently and remain alert throughout the shift
• Must be comfortable operating a company patrol vehicle when assigned
• Must be able to stand, walk, patrol, and complete assigned duties throughout the shift
• Must be able to conduct interior and exterior checks in varying weather conditions
• Must be able to write clear and accurate shift reports
• Must be able to follow company policies, site procedures, post orders, and supervisor instructions
• Must be able to complete required onboarding documents and employment eligibility verification
• Must be able to pass a background check and CORI review, as permitted by law
• Must be able to maintain confidentiality regarding client information, site procedures, reports, and security-related matters

Preferred Experience

Preferred experience includes:

• Security experience
• Campus, school, residential, corporate, or facility security experience
• Overnight or independent post experience
• Patrol, access control, or alarm response experience
• Report writing or incident documentation experience
• Military, law enforcement, public safety, or emergency response experience
