What are the responsibilities and job description for the NWOESC- Occupational Therapist position at NWOESC MULTIPLE LOCATIONS?
Job Objective: Provides occupational therapy services to help students benefit from the educational program.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Holds/maintains valid Ohio Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy and Athletic Trainer Board and Ohio Department of Education Pupil Services licenses as an occupational therapist.
- Acts in accordance with the Licensure Code of Professional Conduct for Ohio Educators.
- Comprehensive understanding of Ohio Schools Medicaid Program
- Displays flexibility, reliability, self-discipline and a willingness to take on challenging tasks.
- Documents/maintains a record free of criminal violations that prohibit public school employment.
- Effective communication, problem-solving and time management skills.
- Embodies high ethical standards/integrity. Accepts responsibility for personal decisions/conduct.
Essential Functions:
Designs and provides educationally relevant occupational therapy services. Uses evidence based practice to guide therapeutic interventions.
- Assists with program planning. Identifies opportunities to enhance student learning.
- Helps the evaluation team assess student performance. Recommends services relevant to needs. Incorporates therapy goals into Individualized Education Plans (IEP).
- Collaboratively identifies and resolves problems that impede student learning. Implements evidence-based interventions that produce tangible benefits within defined time-frames.
- Completes Evaluation Team Reports (ETR) documenting assessment results, student strengths, needs, and implications for instruction by required deadlines.
- Helps stakeholders understand how therapy activities relate to the educational program.
- Guides students in therapy regimens and the use of equipment. Helps students increase strength, dexterity, coordination, endurance and fine motor skills applicable to the educational setting.
- Assists with classroom positioning to promote proper joint alignment and postural stability.
- Addresses individualized activities of daily living skills necessary in educational/vocational settings.
- Evaluates and recommends activities that support/enhance sensory processing skills.
- Reduces barriers in the school environment. Devises/adapts equipment as needed.
- Conducts assistive technology assessments.
- Teaches skills that help students manage the learning environment (e.g., assistive technology, augmentative devices, use of instructional/media resources, access/proximity to activities, etc.).
- Works with staff to monitor intervention efficacy. Recommends modifications as needed.
- Advocates for students. Facilitates inclusive educational opportunities for all students.
- Helps students make appropriate choices and improve personal skills. Encourages creativity, critical-thinking, cultural awareness, democratic values, empathy, ethical conduct and self-reliance.
- Ensures accurate and timely completion of all required Medicaid reports.
CONTRACT: Per the 2025-26 school calendar
LOCATION: Public school districts in Fulton, Defiance, Henry, and Williams counties (Specific locations to be determined)
DEADLINE: Until Filled
SALARY: Per the adopted salary schedule based on training and experience
