NWA Steel dba Alternative Design Manufacturing is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Press Brake Operator to join our dynamic manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for operating and setting up press brake machines to bend and shape sheet metal components with precision and efficiency. Your expertise will contribute to the production of high-quality metal fabrications, ensuring that all parts meet strict specifications and safety standards. Duties & Requirements
- Set up, operate, and trains all fabricating machines such as brakes, shears, wire straightener, ironworker, cutting equipment, and turret.
- Reads and interprets job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.
- Reads/understand engineering blueprints to layout, measure, and mark workpieces.
- Adjust machine tooling and parameters for optimal performance and consistent output. Setting up stop or guides to specified length as indicated by scale, rule, or template.
- Positions workpiece against stops or aligns layout marks with die or blade.
- Pushes button or depresses pedal to activate the machine.
- Observes machine operation to detect workpiece defects or machine malfunction.
- Measures piece dimensions to determine the accuracy of machine operation.
- Performs minor machine maintenance such as oiling machines, dies, or workpieces.
- Set up the machine, stack, mark, pack, and transport finished workpieces.
- Follows verbal/written instructions regarding duties to be performed.
- Maintains production records.
- Performs online go-not-go testing and inspection to ensure parts and assemblies meet production specifications and standards.
- Perform assigned tasks as required.
- Work in a safe manner.
- Ability to use measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and height gauges for quality control purposes.
- Basic shop math skills including measurement conversions, geometry calculations, and unit conversions.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- 3 years experience or the equivalent of experience and education in machine operation, strong skills in mechanics.
- Familiar with all phases of metal fabrication
- Computer skills are a plus.
