WELDING TECHNICIAN – LEVEL II

POSITION SNAPSHOT
The Welding Technician II performs intermediate-level welding and fabrication tasks with minimal supervision. This role is responsible for producing high-quality welds, interpreting technical drawings, and supporting production efficiency and quality standards. The technician is expected to troubleshoot common issues, and maintain equipment.
OBJECTIVES
· Meet daily production targets and deadlines
· Follow work instructions to deliver high-quality finished products
· Operate equipment safely and effectively
· Maintain a clean and organized work area
· Collaborate with team members to complete projects
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Perform welding processes such as MIG, TIG, Stick, and/or Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) based on job requirements
· Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and fabrication drawings
· Set up, operate, and adjust welding equipment and fixtures
· Ensure welds meet quality standards, codes, and specifications
· Inspect completed welds using measuring tools and visual inspection techniques
· Troubleshoot and resolve routine welding and fabrication issues
· Maintain a safe and organized work environment in compliance with OSHA standards
· Perform basic maintenance on welding equipment and tools
· Collaborate with supervisors, engineers, and quality teams
· Assist in training and mentoring Welding Technician I employees
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
· Experience working with a variety of metals (steel, stainless, aluminum)
· Attention to detail and quality workmanship
· Strong problem-solving skills
· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
· Good communication and teamwork skills
· Time management and ability to meet production deadlines
EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS
· High school diploma or GED.
· years of welding / fabrication experience.
· Proficiency in at least two welding processes (e.g., MIG and TIG)
PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS
· Welding certification (e.g., AWS or equivalent)
· Experience working with a variety of metals (steel, stainless, aluminum)
· Familiarity with fabrication shop equipment (press brake, shear, etc.)
· Forklift experience
WORKING CONDITIONS
· Manufacturing and fabrication shop environment.
· Exposure to welding fumes, noise, and heat (PPE required)
· Ability to stand, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs.
