What are the responsibilities and job description for the Heavy Duty Trailer Technician position at NW Fleet Truck/Trailer Repair, Inc.?
Job Requirements
Accurately diagnose, repair, and maintain all parts and components on heavy duty trailing equipment in a timely manner and quality fashion, including but not limited to the following:
Perform quality preventive maintenance services and DOT inspections on semi-trailers and dollysDiagnose and repair air brake systems, ABS, suspension, and electrical systemsPerform welding and fabrication on steel, stainless and aluminumComplete all body repairs on semi-trailers including repairing or replacing side panels, roofs, headers and frame railsRepair and replace roll-up doors and swing doorsAssist other mechanics as neededHave good communication skills and be able to work independently and as a team memberOperate Company vehicles in accordance with local, state, federal and Company policies and safe driving practicesPerform occasional facility maintenance for the Company and/or customer’s facilitiesPerform all other duties as assigned by Lead Mechanic, Shop Foreman, Area Fleet Manager or Shop CoordinatorThoroughly, timely, neatly, and accurately document repairs and maintenance including a complete accounting of all labor hours, parts and materials used through maintenance software and daily worksheetsProvide excellent customer service and maintain a positive working relationship with all fleet, customer, and operations personnelDisplay professional conduct with customers, co-workers, outside suppliers and contactsMaintain safe and clean work areasTake responsibility for and demonstrate safe work practicesAdhere to Company and OSHA safety guidelinesOperate a forklift as needed to perform repairs and move heavy parts
Qualifications
Minimum 1 year experience as a heavy-duty trailer mechanicValid driver’s license and good driving record may be required depending on job locationPass a criminal history background screen as required by our customer baseBe able to lift and install all parts required to perform the job including heavier parts such as brake drums, tires, flywheels, clutches, starters, suspension spring packs, etc.
