NWDS Warehouse Associate (Salem, OR)
SUMMARY
The Warehouse Associate is responsible for accurately selecting, preparing, and staging customer orders in a
timely and efficient manner. This position requires strong attention to detail, the ability to interpret order sheets or
electronic pick tickets, and consistent adherence to safety and quality standards. Working as part of the warehouse
team, the Warehouse Associate ensures products are correctly located, pulled, and prepared for shipping.
Additional responsibilities may include inventory control, restocking, and maintaining a clean, organized warehouse
environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Use handheld devices to accurately locate and pick items based on order slips or digital instructions (S2P).
• Verify order accuracy by checking customer, varietal, description, vintage, size, and quantity.
• Ensure stock is properly organized and stored in designated areas for easy access and inventory accuracy.
• Inspect items for damage or defects before packing.
• Pack items securely for shipment; wrap pallets, label accurately, and move completed orders to the QC
area.
• Label pallets and cases with correct shipping information.
• Verify pallet tags are properly placed, accurate, and match the contents and destination of each pallet.
• Restack and consolidate pallets as needed to maintain safety and organization.
• Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other equipment safely and in compliance with protocols.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment, including lane inspections.
• Complete required documentation, including order forms, logs, and reports.
OTHER DUTIES
• Communicate and share information with department supervisors and management.
• Crosstrain to perform additional warehouse functions as needed.
• Assist warehouse staff in locating wine for customer orders.
• Stay current on policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by management.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Work is performed in a warehouse or office environment.
• Frequently required to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, and to reach with hands and arms.
• Occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
PROBLEM SOLVING REQUIREMENTS
• Provide effective and courteous customer service when needed.
• Exercise sound judgment in routine and non-routine situations, seeking supervisor direction as appropriate.
• Use warehouse software systems to research and resolve customer service-related issues.
QUALIFICATIONS
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Forklift experience and certification required.
• Practical experience in general warehouse operations.
• Basic reading, writing, and math skills.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Basic computer and handheld device proficiency.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication and organizational abilities; capable of speaking clearly with colleagues and
customers.
