Role Description

The Strategic Accounts Manager will own national account strategy and execution with a specific focus on pet specialty channel relationships (e.g., independent pet retailers, Petco/PetSmart programs, specialty distributors). You will set targets, manage national and specialty account relationships, lead forecasting and reporting, and collaborate cross-functionally to align product and marketing initiatives with retailer needs. Experience selling into home improvement, outdoor, or farm channels is a strong plus.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a sales strategy prioritizing pet specialty channels while driving performance with major retail and distribution partners (PetSmart, Petco, Chewy, etc.).
  • Set and drive attainment of sales targets, monitor KPIs, and adjust plans to meet goals.
  • Build and maintain senior relationships with buyers and stakeholders at pet specialty accounts and other assigned national retailers; negotiate contracts, pricing, promotions, and merchandising programs.
  • Manage end-to-end sales processes for designated accounts including planning, forecasting, promotions, reporting, and post-performance analysis.
  •  Leverage deep pet-industry and pet specialty channel knowledge to inform account strategies and product/marketing alignment.
  • Monitor market and competitor trends across assigned accounts to identify growth opportunities and mitigate risk.
  • Partner with marketing, product development, operations, and finance to ensure successful program delivery and margin management.
  • Manage annual and multi-year sales budget and resource allocation to maximize ROI.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Sales, or related field; MBA a plus.
  • 7–10 years in sales with 3–5 years managing national or multi-regional sales teams.
  • Proven success selling into pet specialty channels and managing national accounts; deep understanding of pet specialty retailers’ buying cycles, assortment, and promotional dynamics.
  • Experience negotiating and managing large-scale retail partnerships.
  • Experience selling into home improvement, outdoor, or farm channels (e.g., Tractor Supply, Home Depot, Lowe’s) is a plus.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Proficient in CRM (Salesforce, HubSpot, etc.), Microsoft Office, and data analysis tools.
  • Ability to travel nationally as needed.
