At Fernandina Beach Animal Clinic, we believe in doing the ordinary extraordinarily well. Our well-equipped facility offers digital general and dental radiology, class IV therapeutic laser therapy, diagnostic ultrasound, complete in-house laboratory services, surgical and dental suites, and integrated electronic medical records. We boast many resources, the most valuable being our knowledgeable and tenured support staff. We foster a family-oriented environment and promote the wellness of our veterinarians.
Students will work closely with the supervising veterinarian to gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creation of treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry services, observing/assisting or performing surgical procedures, and medical management of patients. In addition to practicing their clinical skills, student externs will have the opportunity to practice their communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.
Most externship experiences range from two to eight weeks depending on student and hospital schedules. Externships at Fernandina Beach Animal Clinic are available for 3rd and 4th year veterinary students.
