We are seeking a friendly, compassionate, and organized Veterinary Receptionist to join our team! As the first point of contact for clients and their pets, the receptionist plays a vital role in creating a welcoming and efficient front office experience. This position requires excellent communication skills, multitasking abilities, and a genuine love for animals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet clients and their pets warmly upon arrival and assist with check-in procedures
- Answer multi-line phone system; schedule appointments, answer questions, and direct calls appropriately
- Maintain accurate patient and client records using veterinary management software (e.g. Avimark)
- Process payments and handle cash and credit card
- Communicate with clients about upcoming appointments, reminders, and follow-ups
- Coordinate with veterinary technicians and veterinarians to ensure smooth patient flow
- Maintain a clean and organized front desk and waiting area
- Handle emergency calls calmly and efficiently, following clinic protocols
- Assist with light administrative tasks such as filing, scanning, and email correspondence
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Previous experience in a veterinary, medical, or customer service setting preferred
- Proficiency with computers and experience using scheduling or veterinary software (e.g., AVImark,) is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to handle sensitive or emotional situations with empathy and professionalism
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and multitasking skills
- Comfortable working around animals of all sizes and temperaments
Working Conditions:
- Fast-paced clinic environment
- Possible exposure to pets of various temperaments, bodily fluids, and animal dander
- May require evening, weekend, or holiday hours depending on clinic schedule.
