Most externship experiences range from two to eight weeks depending on student and hospital schedules. All veterinary students (regardless of class year) are encouraged to participate in NVA externships.

Externship Details: During your externship at Best Friends Animal Hospital, you will have the chance to:
- Participate in all aspects of patient care including examinations, diagnostic sample collection and interpretation, and medical/surgical procedures.
- Engage with pet owners, providing education and support.
- Gain exposure to a wide range of cases and species.
- Participate in hospital rounds and discussions.
- Gain access to the area mentorship program to collaborate with other students.
- Enrolled in an accredited veterinary school program.
- Passion for veterinary medicine and commitment to learning.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Strong desire to contribute positively to patient care and client relationships.
- Hands-on experience in a state-of-the-art veterinary facility.
