Join Our Geotechnical Materials Engineering Team in Southern California!

Are you ready to take your career to the next level? We’re looking for a dynamic and driven professional to join our team in San Diego or Anaheim, CA. As a key member of our Geotechnical Materials Engineering group, you’ll lead exciting projects from start to finish, build lasting client relationships, and collaborate across multiple departments to deliver innovative solutions.

 

This role offers a great balance of office-based (75%) and hands-on fieldwork (25%), giving you the opportunity to stay connected to both strategy and execution. You’ll be part of a supportive, forward-thinking team that values technical excellence, proactive communication, and continuous growth.

 

Responsibilities

  • Engineering Project Manager on DSA/OSHPD projects.
  • Direct, review and monitor work performed by the materials testing and inspection personnel.
  • Review field and laboratory reports.
  • Review plans and specifications.
  • Prepare and/or review materials testing proposals.
  • Project Management: Manage projects from inception through completion and have primary responsibility for managing client expectations and ensuring that delivery meets expectations.
  • Manage projects for technical excellence, budget and schedule.
  • Participate in training and mentoring of staff.
  • Conduct annual and interim performance reviews. Monitor and assess progress toward performance goals. Delete or leave?
  • Certifications: Assures that all accreditations and certifications of the laboratory and staff are maintained and up to date

Qualifications

  • BS in civil engineering, Master's in Geotechnical is a plus
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in the field
  • CA PE or CA EIT is a plus, but not required 
  • Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, think creatively, and problem solve.
  • Demonstrated experience with reviewing technical specifications and filed/laboratory reports.
  • Extensive knowledge of building codes and construction industry standards. DSA, OSHPD, Caltrans, AASHTO, and ASTM test methods pertaining to construction materials, including HMA, aggregate, soils, steel, masonry and concrete
  • Experience reviewing concrete/asphalt mix designs
  • Experience overseeing materials testing and inspections in the field
  • Thorough understanding of accreditation policies for all relevant agencies including Caltrans, DSA, AMRL, CCRL, IAS, etc.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including MS Office
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

 

 

The pay range for this position in California is $90,000 to $120,000 per year.

Base pay offered may be higher or lower depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location of the candidate. Restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
