Responsibilities
NV5 is seeking an Roadway Design Engineer to join our growing transportation design team. This role is ideal for early‑career engineers looking to build a strong technical foundation while contributing to roadway, highway, intersection, bicycle, and pedestrian infrastructure projects. You will work closely with senior engineers and project managers, gaining hands-on experience across all phases of roadway design.
- Provide technical support to project engineers and project managers
- Develop conceptual roadway layouts under guidance
- Assist in designing roadway geometrics
- Support development of drainage designs
- Prepare construction staging plans
- Assist with erosion and sedimentation control designs
- Prepare construction plan sheets and supporting documentation
- Prepare right-of-way plans
- Support development of construction staging plans
- Perform other related design tasks as assigned
- Work effectively in a collaborative, team-based environment
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
- 0–4 years of relevant engineering experience
- EIT certification preferred or ability to obtain
- Interest in transportation engineering and roadway design
- Familiarity with CAD platforms (MicroStation, AutoCAD, or similar)
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Good communication and technical writing skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Work effectively in a team-based, collaborative environment
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think critically.
