Job Overview
NV Catering is seeking a skilled and dependable Grill Cook to join our culinary team. The Grill Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking meats, poultry, seafood, vegetables, and other menu items according to company recipes and quality standards. This position plays a key role in ensuring food is prepared safely, efficiently, and consistently for catering events, corporate functions and weddings.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook grilled menu items according to recipes, production sheets, and Chef instructions.
- Operate and maintain grills, smokers, flat tops, charbroilers, and other cooking equipment safely and efficiently.
- Monitor food temperatures and cooking times to ensure product quality and food safety compliance.
- Season, marinate, and prepare proteins and vegetables for service.
- Assist with food prep, portioning, and production as needed.
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation throughout the shift.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health department regulations.
- Properly label, date, store, and rotate food products using FIFO procedures.
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff to ensure timely execution of meals and event service.
- Assist with loading, unloading, and transporting food and equipment for off-site catering events when required.
- Support setup, service, and breakdown of catering events as needed.
- Report equipment issues, inventory shortages, or food quality concerns to the Kitchen Manager or Executive Chef.
- Perform additional kitchen duties as assigned.
Skills
- Previous experience as a Grill Cook, Line Cook, or similar culinary position preferred.
- Knowledge of proper grilling techniques and safe food handling practices.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Ability to follow recipes and production schedules accurately.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Must be dependable, punctual, and professional.
- Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and event days.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in hot kitchen environments and outdoors during catering events.
- Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, and walking.
Schedule:
- Part-Time or Full-Time Available
- Must be available for weekends and special events.
