Position Overview
NuWest is seeking an experienced Family Nurse Practitioner for an outpatient primary care opportunity in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The FNP will provide comprehensive, patient-centered care to patients across the lifespan, from pediatrics through geriatrics, with an emphasis on diagnosis, treatment, chronic disease management, and preventive care.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct patient assessments, obtain medical histories, and perform physical examinations across all age groups
- Diagnose and treat acute illnesses and injuries, and manage chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and asthma
- Develop, implement, and adjust individualized treatment plans
- Order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests, and prescribe medications, including controlled substances, per scope of practice
- Provide preventive care, including wellness exams, screenings, and immunizations
- Educate patients and families on disease management, healthy lifestyle choices, and treatment plans
- Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and care team members, and refer patients as needed
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the EMR in compliance with regulatory standards
Required Qualifications
- Active Colorado Nurse Practitioner (FNP) license
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Family Nurse Practitioner
- Current BLS certification
- Active DEA registration
- Must be able to pass required background checks and drug screening
