Quality Control /Assurance Manager & Certified Welding Inspector
Job Overview:
The Quality Control/Assurance Manager and Certified Welding Inspector is responsible for the implementation of quality assurance and control processes, ensuring compliance with ASME, API, and AWS codes. As a key leader, this position will help strengthen our quality systems, uphold industry standards, and make a meaningful impact in a long-term, growth-focused environment.
Essential Functions:
· Perform welding engineering and QA/QC tasks, including developing, validating and maintaining WPS, PQR, and welder qualifications.
· Conduct welder performance testing and re-qualifications.
· Conduct inspections including non-destructive testing (NDT) and managing heat treatment processes to ensure metallurgical integrity and ASME, AWS and API standards.
· Establish quality checkpoints and perform inspections on raw materials, components and finished products.
· Maintain accurate records of inspections, certifications, and documentation.
· Act as the primary contact for customer and regulatory quality matters while coordinating with project teams, managing consumables, and training welding personnel to maintain a skilled, qualified workforce.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Proficient in welding processes (SAW, FCAW, GMAW, GTAW) and non-destructive testing methods.
- Strong knowledge of quality management standards, particularly ASME (Required), AWS, and API.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other quality management software.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Welding Engineering, Quality Management, or related field.
- Active Certified Weld Inspector credentials required.
- Minimum of 5 years in welding engineering and quality control, ideally in a manufacturing environment.
- ASME Code & Standards- Minimum of 2 yrs preferred
- Extensive knowledge of metallurgy, welding processes, and quality assurance/control principles.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform inspections in varied positions and work conditions (construction sites, fabrication shops).
- Capacity to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks like bending, twisting, kneeling, and climbing as required by inspections.
