Position Summary
The Cold Prep Cook is responsible for the preparation and presentation of high-quality cold food items for residents, guests, and special events within a luxury senior living community. This position plays a critical role in ensuring attractive, fresh, and consistent offerings that support an exceptional dining experience.
The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and passionate about food quality, sanitation, and resident satisfaction.
Essential Responsibilities
- Prepare salads, composed salads, fresh fruit displays, deli offerings, sandwiches, wraps, cold appetizers, desserts, and specialty cold menu items.
- Follow standardized recipes, production sheets, and portion control guidelines.
- Prepare ingredients for service, including washing, peeling, slicing, chopping, and assembling food items.
- Assist with preparation and plating for catered events, holiday meals, and special functions.
- Maintain attractive presentation standards for all cold food displays.
- Monitor product freshness, rotation, and quality utilizing FIFO procedures.
- Properly label, date, and store all food items according to food safety standards.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of workstations, equipment, and storage areas.
- Assist with inventory management and notify supervisors of product shortages.
- Support other kitchen stations as needed to ensure smooth service operations.
- Participate in culinary training and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a prep cook, pantry cook, or cold food preparation cook preferred.
- Experience in upscale dining, hotels, country clubs, restaurants, healthcare, or senior living communities preferred.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a culinary team.
- Strong attention to detail and presentation.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
