Job Summary: The Fleet Wash Technician is responsible for cleaning and maintaining the exterior and, in some cases, the interior of 101’s fleet of vehicles. This role ensures that vehicles are presentable, protected from environmental damage, and compliant with cleanliness standards, which is particularly important for branding and regulatory purposes.
Key Responsibilities
- Uphold and maintain the highest standards of the Company’s mission, vision, and core values.
- Lead by example in the adherence of all Company policies, processes and procedures in accordance with the Employee Manual, Safety Manual, Department Manuals, etc.
- Wash the exterior of vehicles, including trailers, trucks, and company cars, using pressure washers, brushes, and other equipment. Clean the interior of vehicles, if required, focusing on seats, floors, and windows.
- Apply cleaning solutions, wax, and protective coatings to maintain the vehicles’ appearance and protect against rust, grime, and other environmental factors.
- Inspect vehicles for visible damage, wear, or maintenance needs, such as chipped paint, dents, or low tire pressure, and report these to the fleet maintenance team.
- Document any findings during inspections, contributing to the upkeep and monitoring of fleet vehicles.
- Maintain washing equipment, including pressure washers, hoses, and brushes, ensuring they are in good working order and safe to use.
- Follow all safety protocols to prevent accidents and injuries while using cleaning chemicals and equipment, such as wearing proper protective gear and managing water runoff.
- Maintain a cleaning schedule to ensure all vehicles are regularly washed and kept presentable.
- Keep records of wash dates, types of services performed, and any observations made during the cleaning process.
- Manage waste disposal and water runoff in accordance with environmental regulations, particularly when handling cleaning chemicals. Ensure that water is used efficiently, minimizing waste and preventing contamination.
- Attend all Company meetings and trainings as required. Be willing to participate in the training of others as necessary.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in vehicle washing, detailing, industrial cleaning, or fleet maintenance support preferred.
- Familiarity with pressure washers, cleaning equipment, hoses, and chemical cleaning products.
- Basic understanding of vehicle surfaces and the appropriate cleaning tools/solutions for each.
- Ability to follow cleaning schedules, checklists, and written instructions with strong attention to detail.
- Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, and strong work ethic.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a maintenance team.
- Strong awareness of safe chemical handling procedures and use of PPE.
- Ability to observe and report vehicle condition issues accurately (e.g., damage, wear, fluid leaks).
- Willingness to work in various weather conditions and environments, including outdoor wash bays.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record preferred.
Physical Abilities:
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry equipment, hoses, and materials up to 50–75 lbs as needed.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and reach for extended periods during cleaning tasks.
- Ability to operate pressure washers, brushes, ladders, and other tools safely.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow, wind) and around water, soap, and cleaning solutions.
- Manual dexterity to handle tools, hoses, nozzles, trigger guns, and sprayers.
- Visual acuity to identify dirt, damage, or maintenance issues and ensure proper cleaning.
- Hearing ability sufficient to follow safety instructions, hear equipment noise changes, and communicate with team members.
- Ability to work in wet or slippery conditions while maintaining safety awareness.
- May be required to work evenings, weekends, or overtime depending on fleet demands.
- Ability to wear required PPE including gloves, safety glasses, waterproof boots, and hearing protection when necessary.
