Job Summary
As a Dairy Consulting Nutritionist, you will be responsible for providing expert advice and guidance to dairy producers to optimize the nutrition and health of their herds. You will work closely with clients to assess their herd's nutritional needs, develop customized feeding programs, and implement strategies to enhance milk production, herd health, and overall profitability. Your expertise will contribute to improving animal welfare, maximizing feed efficiency, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
Essential Functions
- Provide exceptional dairy nutrition service to customers, including ration formulation as well as consultation on all other aspects of farm management which impact on farm nutrition.
- Develop and implement customized feeding programs tailored to the specific needs and goals of each client's dairy operation.
- Maintain and grow relationships with existing and potential clients.
- Collaborate with clients to troubleshoot nutritional challenges, such as feed shortages, nutrient imbalances, or health issues, and propose effective solutions.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, research findings, and technological advancements in dairy nutrition and management practices.
- Educate clients on best practices for feeding, management, and health care protocols to promote the well-being of their dairy herds.
- Utilize internal and external software tools and analytical methods to monitor and evaluate herd performance metrics, feed efficiency, and economic outcomes.
- Provide training and support to dairy farm staff on implementing recommended nutritional and management practices.
- Foster strong relationships with clients, feed suppliers, and industry stakeholders to enhance collaboration and business partnerships.
- Adhere to regulatory guidelines and ethical standards governing animal nutrition, health, and welfare.
- Assist in evaluating nutritional value, shadow price values or producer return on new ingredients or technologies.
- Communicate new product and service opportunities, special developments, information, or feedback gathered through field activity to appropriate NutriQuest team members.
- Other projects as assigned by the manager.
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Animal Science, Dairy Science, or related field, Advanced Degree in Nutrition preferred
- Minimum of three (3) years in dairy nutrition consulting, feed formulation, or related agricultural roles preferred.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret nutritional data, perform ration balancing, and optimize feed formulations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to diverse audiences.
- Proven problem-solving abilities and capacity to develop innovative solutions to complex nutritional challenges.
- Proficiency in computer software for data analysis, ration modeling, and herd management systems.
- Passion and dedication to animal welfare, environmental stewardship, and sustainable agriculture practices.
