What are the responsibilities and job description for the Chemical Operator- IM Job position at Nutrien?
Jobholder, reporting to the Shift Supervisor, will be producing Durastrength and Plastistrength products. The product is produced as a latex in Reactors in a batch process. The Latex is then dried in a continuous process and packaged into several different package sizes. Troubleshooting to correct problems within their work area is critical. All job functions must be conducted using all safety and environmental procedures and systems. Several checks are required on Electronic files as well as entries on paper copies of batch sheets.It is critical for the Operators in the Control Room and Field to stay in constant communication for safety and proper operation of the unit. Jobholder holder will be required to perform work in the field.
Activities may include:
- Prepping raw materials for batches,
- Transferring batches to storage,
- Cleaning storage tanks, and
- Monitoring the Dryers.
- Use procedures, temporary procedures, and MOC’s.
- trouble shoot to correct problems within their work area.
- Comply with the HSEQ Policy.
- Comply with Regulations, Legal and Internal Requirements as made known by the site and by the business unit (BU).
- Comply with the rules of the specific location to which one is assigned as well as the rules set by the business unit (BU) and Arkema Inc.
- Follow HES and Operating Discipline procedures and practices to ensure safe and efficient operation of assigned plant areas.
- As required, initiates and participates in Root Cause Investigations
- Understands and executes Emergency Response procedures to mitigate unplanned events in the process.
- Comply with all standard procedures and work instructions, aka SP, SOP, PWI, TM, to ensure productivity, quality assurance and cost effectiveness.
- Review their work areas for potential losses and Report hazards to the direct supervisor.
- Report Near Misses to the direct supervisor.
- Report Incidents or Accidents to the direct supervisor.
- Identify and communicate potential gains or possible improvements to the management system.
The successful candidate will have:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Good inter-personal and communication skills.
- Good understanding of production processes.
- Be able to work in a team environment or alone.
- Strong communication skills
- Experience with use of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PI.helpful
- Accurate reporting skills required
- Self-motivation
