- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, with staff, students, parents, administrators and the community
- Plan, organize, and provide instruction in English that meet state and federal standards
- Effectively and appropriately differentiate instruction so as to meet all students’ learning styles
- Select and use appropriate materials, resources, and approaches according to the course and level of language proficiency of students
- Maintain current lesson plans, assessment data (i.e., grades), and state required records, appropriately
- Design, administer, and evaluate a range of formative and summative assessments as appropriate.
- Complete administrative tasks as defined and by set deadlines.
- Administer state-designated WIDA testing for student screening and placement
- Utilize learning spaces and tools effectively
- Attend academic, departmental, and school meetings when required
- Provide a nurturing and supportive learning environment that encourages student responsibility and incorporates challenging instructional strategies
- Adapt curriculum to provide individual, small group, and/or remedial instruction as to meet the needs of individual students and subgroups of students
- Establish and maintain standards of student behavior required to run an orderly and productive classroom environment
