Journeyman Service Plumber

Nussbaumers Plumbing is a small, family-owned plumbing company in Freeport, PA, looking to add an experienced Journeyman Service Plumber to our team.
We have steady, year-round work through our residential customers as well as home warranty work. We’re looking for someone experienced, dependable, and proud of the work they put their name on. We’re a close-knit company where everyone works together, and we’re looking for someone who wants to become part of the team long-term.
What You’ll Be Doing
Our work is primarily residential service plumbing and can range from a simple pinhole leak repair to large, labor-intensive plumbing projects.
Typical work includes:
- Residential plumbing service and repairs
- Diagnosing plumbing issues and determining appropriate repairs
- Water heater repairs and replacements
- Fixture, faucet, toilet, and piping repairs
- Partial and complete water-line replacements throughout homes
- Sewer, water, and gas-line repairs
- Underground plumbing
- Excavation for sewer, water, and gas lines
- Jackhammering and concrete work to access underground plumbing
- Working directly with homeowners and providing professional customer service
- Completing jobs thoroughly and making sure the customer is satisfied with the finished work
You will typically have a helper working with you, although there will be days when you are expected to work independently.
REQUIRED Qualifications
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Current Journeyman Plumber license
- Completion of all 4 years of required plumbing schooling
- Minimum of 5 years of plumbing employment experience
- Ability to provide proof of schooling, licensing, and plumbing employment experience
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to perform residential service plumbing independently when necessary
- Dependable attendance and reliable transportation
- Strong work ethic and attention to workmanship
- Ability to communicate professionally with customers
Applicants without a Journeyman Plumber license will not be considered.
Applicants without a valid driver’s license will not be considered.
Schedule
Monday through Saturday, with every other Saturday required.
Our workday begins at 8:00 AM and ends when the day’s scheduled work is completed. Most days finish between approximately 4:00 PM and 8:00 PM, depending on workload and the jobs scheduled that day.
Long days can occur, so applicants must be comfortable with a schedule that does not always have a set end time.
There are NO overnight shifts and NO on-call rotation.
Overtime is available every week.
Pay
- $30–$35 per hour, based on experience

After successfully completing the 90-day evaluation period, employees may be eligible for a company work truck to take home and back for work-related use only. Availability is based on company needs, job performance, and management approval.
PTO begins at 5 total paid days after the 90-day evaluation period. PTO, sick time, and vacation are combined into one paid-time-off category.
PTO increases with continued employment:
- After 1 year: 6 days
- After 2 years: 7 days
- After 3 years: 8 days
- After 4 years: 9 days
- After 5 years: 10 days
Ten paid days is the maximum annual PTO allowance.
Tools
Employees are expected to have the tools necessary for their trade. Nussbaumers Plumbing offers a tool account of up to $500 to help employees purchase needed tools.
The balance is repaid through payroll deductions, typically $80 per week until paid in full.
Additional Employment Requirements
Employment is subject to a 90-day evaluation period. A background check is required. Employees may also be subject to reasonable random drug testing in accordance with company policy and applicable law.

Reliability is extremely important. Occasional long days are part of service plumbing, and frequent call-offs will not work for this position.
