NICET Level I, II or III Construction Inspector/Observer

Nussbaumer & Clarke, Inc. has an immediate opening for a Construction Inspector/Observer to provide comprehensive administration oversight for various local municipalities, NYSDOT, NYSTA, and private infrastructure projects. Our ideal candidate will have 2-8 years of experience in construction inspection and observation, ensuring compliance with project specifications, standards, and regulations. This role will report to our Construction Services Manager and assist with project oversight and daily coordination and communication of activities with contractors, project managers, clients, and office engineers/staff to deliver successful project outcomes.

Qualifications:

·        2-8 years of experience in construction inspection or related field

·        Strong knowledge of construction practices, methods, and materials

·        Attention to detail and an ability to follow process and procedures

·        Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

·        Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications

·        Detail-oriented with strong organizational and note taking skills

·        Ability to work independently and as part of a team

·        Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

·        Proficiency in using inspection tools and equipment

·        Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Preferred Qualifications (a plus but not required):

·        Certification in construction inspection (NICET II or III)

·        Certifications and safety trainings (e.g. OSHA, First aid, CPR)

·        10-hour or 30-hour OSHA training certification

·        Additional certifications in any of the following areas:

o  NYSDEC erosion & sediment control

o  NETTCP Soil & Aggregate

o  FHA/NYSTA/NYSDOT - Design and Operation of Work Zone Traffic Control

o  NYSTA, Operations and Partnering Training

o  SPDES Certification

o  HAZWOPER

o  ACI Concrete Testing Certification

o  Dig Safely New York underground Utility Stake Out

o  PIP Inspections

·        Knowledge of local, state, and federal construction codes and standards

·        Experience with municipal infrastructure projects

·        Experience with Microsoft Project

·        Experience with Procore

·        Experience with Blue Beam

Responsibilities:

·        Conduct on-site inspections and observations of construction activities to ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, and standards

·        Document construction progress, including photographs, daily reports, and field notes

·        Communicate effectively with project managers, contractors, and clients to address any issues or concerns

·        Verify materials and equipment used in construction meet project requirements

·        Monitor safety practices on-site and report any violations

·        Assist in resolving construction-related issues and conflicts

·        Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and other project documents

·        Prepare and submit detailed inspection reports in a timely manner
